How to Raise your Property Value Before you Sell

When it comes time to sell your home, everyone instantly becomes concerned about property value. After all, you want to get the best possible price for it. Not only has it been a home, but it’s time to look at it as an investment as well. But, before you go out and buy all your supplies for your quick fix renovation projects, you need to take the time to understand what does and doesn’t work when you are trying to increase your property value.

Before you do anything, take a look at your home, inside and out, and make note of the things that:

  • Must be repaired
  • Must be upgraded
  • Things that would be nice to address but can wait

Start at the top of your list and work your way down.

Short List of Tips that will Enhance the Value of your Home:

  1. Get rid of the clutter: Remove any unused or unnecessary furniture. You want to create as much open space as possible.
  2. De-Personalize it: Take down your family portraits and tuck away your photos. You’re selling a buyer their new home, and not your old house.
  3. Paint: It is amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. Go to the paint store and find out what is in this season. Paint your house with modern colors to enhance its look and feel.
  4. Upgrade your appliances: Everyone that is looking to purchase a home wants new and modern appliances. Upgrading your appliances not only gives your home a more modern look, you will also get a good return on your investment and improve your home’s value.
  5. Don’t discount the outside: One of the hottest trends today is creating a great outdoor space to relax and enjoy the day. Consider adding some plants, redoing your patio, and anything else that will give your property an appealing look.
  6. Upgrade fixtures:  Enhance the look of your home by focusing on the accent pieces such as door handles, and sink fixtures.
